VOTE!

Well, the deed is done as I hit the polling place early this morning.  You probably do know today is a pretty big day in the course of the U.S of A.  I think the following verses are proper, fitting, and as English teachers say ‘apropos’ to the events of the day.

13 Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. Romans 13:1 New International Version (NIV)

and maybe this one as well.

God has now revealed to us his mysterious plan regarding Christ, a plan to fulfill his own good pleasure. And this is the plan: At the right time he will bring everything together under the authority of Christ—everything in heaven and on earth.” Ephesians 1:9-10 NLT

Let the best man win, er, the man with most votes win, but remember, that when all the campaigning is complete,  Christos is where you should cast your vote.

Self Assessment

Today, I have to write my self assessed mid year review.  That’s always fun!

I was thinking maybe I should just write this.

20 I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me.The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God,who loved meand gave himself for me. Galatians 2:20 New International Version (NIV)

God’s Response

Last night had a really strange dream. I can’t even go into all the details, but at one point, I was touring a home where this sentence hung on the wall next to the mirror on the wall.

“This is God’s Response”

Hm, that is so interesting.  just imagine, if as believers we took some time to think about how our response to situations should mimic Gods.  Now, let me be clear.  I am not saying that we are God.  What I am saying and thinking is that if we are reflecting God, then our response should mimic his response.

For me that’s pretty sobering, and pretty thought-provoking.  I mean, just imagine if that is how we really lived – remembering that we are the hands and feet of God, and living our lives to show others his glory.

27 for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ  Gal 3

15 Be very careful, then, how you live —not as unwise but as wise, 16 making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.  Eph 5

Crazy Little Thing Called Love

For some reason the Queen song “Crazy Little Thing Called Love” has bounced around my head all morning.  I can’t explain it, nor can I handle it.  I am sure my performances this morning will continue to keep me off the Sunday morning praise team, but it has implemented the thought deep in my head.

And I wondered what about love should I be considering this morning. Then, I just happened on over to John 17, where the Christ says twice

12 My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you.

17 This is my command: Love each other.

Do you think he meant for us to do that?

It might be time for us to “get round to it”!

Ready Freddie?

Good, Better, Best

It’s Good Friday,

What an incredible day.  So far this morning I have already read tons of reflections from people on Twitter and Facebook.  They range from my college buddy Willie posting

On this Good Friday, please pause for a moment and realize that seersucker suits may be worn in just three days!

to Max Lucado tweeting this gem

On this Good Friday, envision the Savior on the cross, bloodied and cast in shadows. Listen as heaven whispers: For you, my child. For you.

It’s a pretty awesome day historically, I mean, really, the son of God dying on a cross, with intent.  What better, is that he was buried and guarded by the Romans, and what is best is that he rose back to life, again with intent on the third day.  Of course, the intent being that he did he not for his own glory , but instead to restore us back in a relationship with the Creator of the Universe!

Enjoy the weekend!  And do spend some time on your own reflecting on this Good Friday and this best weekend!

6 You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. 7 Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die. 8 But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5 NIV
