Troubles

It’s Monday, and that’s full of trouble.  But be comforted with these little words from the Son of God.

1 “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. John 14:1

Light Your Path

Yesterday I saw this tweet, which I found very refreshing and share worthy…

It’s a pretty amazing thought from Max, and it is a humbling, and uplifting thought!  For some reason, after reading those words I was reminded of the story in John, where Jesus feeds thousands of people with just a few small fish and 5 loaves of bread.  Check out this one part of the text.

11 Jesus then took the loaves, gave thanks, and distributed to those who were seated as much as they wanted. He did the same with the fish. John 6:11 (NIV)

Now that’s totally awesome!  What a truly amazing thing, and a very very comforting thought.  He can give as much as you want, because well, he can do anything!  So surely he is mighty enough to light your path!

Happy World Water Day

Today is World Water Day!  I hope that you spend a few moments consider how fortunate you are to have such easy access to water.  for instance last weekend my Dad and I installed 2 fifty gallon rain barrels on Saturday and they were full on Monday mid day.  It’s such a blessing to have an abundance of good clean water!  So as you walk to the faucet today, say a little prayer of thanksgiving and realize how precious that simple clear stream is!

And then take a moment to remember this simple story of a women who went to the well to draw some water, and got something worth so much more!

When a Samaritan woman came to draw water, Jesus said to her, “Will you give me a drink?” (His disciples had gone into the town to buy food.)

The Samaritan woman said to him, “You are a Jew and I am a Samaritan woman. How can you ask me for a drink?” (For Jews do not associate with Samaritans.)

10 Jesus answered her, “If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water.”

11 “Sir,” the woman said, “you have nothing to draw with and the well is deep. Where can you get this living water? 12 Are you greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well and drank from it himself, as did also his sons and his livestock?”

13 Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, 14 but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”

15 The woman said to him, “Sir, give me this water so that I won’t get thirsty and have to keep coming here to draw water.” John 4 NIV

and then maybe you will utter that same little prayer as that women “Sir, give me this water…..”

What’s been done

I have always been fascinated with the verse in John where he talks about the works of Jesus

25 Jesus did many other things as well. If every one of them were written down, I suppose that even the whole world would not have room for the books that would be written. John 21:25 (NIV)

That’s pretty awe-inspiring, and humbling.  I don’t think my acts could fill a post it note!

Anyway, some of those acts will come to life this weekend in the new series on the History Channel.  They finally make the book into a movie!  It looks like it might be something to watch on Sunday nights in March – especially since the Downton Abby season is over!   Seriously, it does look like a well done overview of the entire Bible!  Watch a trailer here. Set the DVR!

And take a moment to think about all the things that Jesus has done for you!

10 Words

I am still attempting to recover from spending the weekend in Gatlinburg with thousands of teenagers, so my brain is a little cloudy this morning.  It might be the lack of sleep, or it may be all of the new things I learn about teenagers this weekend!

Anyway, it was a great weekend, and I did learn a lot about a lot of things as I listened to several great men teach about that guy the Christos.

The thing that keeps running around my head this morning it this simple statement from the Christ while he was on this Earth.

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life.” John 14:6 (ESV)

Those 10 words are pretty remarkable, and set this rabbi apart from all the others.

I am sure you will see some more references to that come out in the next few weeks, as I processes all I learned, but today, think about those words and if his way and your way are the same way?
