Sleepy Monday

This is the day of the year that ranks the lowest of my list of days – the Monday after the ridiculous lets steal an hour of sleep from people who don’t get enough sleep night.  Argh!!!  Sort of reminds me of this, from this day 2 years ago!

I just hope I can say today is ‘it was all I hoped it would be!’

Speaking of hope, let’s not forget this as we go out on this tired and lonesome Monday

5 And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us. Romans 5:5

and

Not only so, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption to sonship, the redemption of our bodies. 24 For in this hope we were saved. But hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what they already have? 25 But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently.  Romans 8:23-25

And remember, that unless, the sky opens and the trumpets sound today, our hope will still be with us on Monday night. As ferocious as this day of the week is, it can’t tear that away from us!

Trust, Lean, Seek

For lots of reasons these words from Proverbs 3 have been circulated around in my mind all week, so I thought I would share them

5Trust in the Lord with all your heart;
do not depend on your own understanding.
6Seek his will in all you do,
and he will show you which path to take.
The whole Proverb is pretty uplifting, give it a glance over and a thought it you find a moment today.

Hello, My Name is

Today is National Nametag Day!  Yeah, that’s right.  I wrote about this last year as well, (oh and evidently before, so  reread this one too!).  It seem this is “Celebrate Your Name Week“, or for people in the know that’s simply called CYNW.

So, I continue to celebrate this particular part of CYNW with a another post about name tags!  I began by thinking what I might place on my name tag besides my given name, which as you know, was celebrated this past Sunday with the remembrance of Namesake day.

I thought about ‘Manwell’, or ‘The Most Interesting Man in the World”, or simply “Harry”.  But despite that I still would be me.  However, there is one name that I could place on there, that would actually take my place, and change my behavior.  Look at this

For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. Gal 3:27

So today, I wear a name tag that simply says “Hello my name is… Jesus”.

I hope I can represent him well.

Breaking the Boredom

Sometimes my brain is bored, and today is one of those days.

However, here is a great little story to break the boredom and maybe it will encourage you.  My seventh grader told me last night that they were painting their favorite bible verses on canvas in his art class.  I asked him which verse he was going to use and he replied either

Remember that I commanded you to be strong and brave. Don’t be afraid, because the Lord your God will be with you everywhere you go.”  Joshua 1:9  (NCV)

or  Phillipians 4:13

13 I can do all things through Christ, because he gives me strength.  Philippians 4:13 (NCV)

That’s pretty awesome!

Well, the truth be told, I told him, maybe he should use Genesis 2:25.  Now, that’s being a  great parent! 🙂

Basketball Madness

Since March means March Madness and basketball, here’s a neat little video that demonstrates some basketball and some madness.

Take a few minutes and watch this here, and make sure you wait around until the end.

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Galatians 5:22-23 (NIV)
