What Would They Like?

I saw this question somewhere several months ago, and I rediscovered this morning, as I was looking through some old notes.  I don’t believe I shared it before, but if I did, it’s probably worth a second thought.

If people thought Jesus was like you, what would they like about Jesus?
What do you think?  We are to reflect the spirit of our leader.  Do we?
Remember these words from the writer Paul today:

11 Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ.  1 Corinthians 11:1 New International Version (NIV)

and remember all the blessing you have and how your problems just might not be problems at all.

Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. 1 Thessalonians 5:18 ESV

Forgetting and Remembering

I can’t believe I forgot and let y’all down, I didn’t realize yesterday’s date until late last night!  10-11-12!  What fun!  I guess I will know have to wait until next November to have that sort of fun with dates.

Since I am writing and you are now reading about forgeting, and remembering, maybe a little look back in Deuteronomy is good today.  This promise was given to the Israelites as they left Egypt and entered the promise land, but might just be a good thing for us to remember in this time and age as well.

11 But that is the time to be careful! Beware that in your plenty you do not forget the Lord your God and disobey his commands, regulations, and decrees that I am giving you today. 12 For when you have become full and prosperous and have built fine homes to live in, 13 and when your flocks and herds have become very large and your silver and gold have multiplied along with everything else, be careful! 14 Do not become proud at that time and forget the Lord your God, who rescued you from slavery in the land of Egypt. 15 Do not forget that he led you through the great and terrifying wilderness with its poisonous snakes and scorpions, where it was so hot and dry. He gave you water from the rock! 16 He fed you with manna in the wilderness, a food unknown to your ancestors. He did this to humble you and test you for your own good. 17 He did all this so you would never say to yourself, ‘I have achieved this wealth with my own strength and energy.’ 18 Remember the Lord your God. He is the one who gives you power to be successful, in order to fulfill the covenant he confirmed to your ancestors with an oath.   Deuteronomy 8:18 New Living Translation (NLT)

Be A Servant

The crazy singing continued this morning with this little number.

Make me a waffle, Lord make me like you,

for you are a waffle, Make me one too.

Yes, ridiculous!  But, of course, that lead into some serious versions of the Make Me a Servant song as well.

Like this:

So, really, this is a beautiful prayer, and something that we  think about each day as we interact with others, especially considering these words of the Lords, from  the book of Mark

“If anyone would be first, he must be last of all and servant of all.” Mark 9:35 ESV

Lord, Make me a Servant!

Awkward

Wow, I got distracted this morning with things like water coming out of my washing machine and forgot to post, and that, well, is sort of awkward.

Speaking of awkward, here is a sort of interesting thought to consider!

Of all the awkward people in your house or job there is only one whom you can improve very much. C.S. Lewis

Keep working on yourself and watch how it actually does impact others!

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control.Against such things there is no law.  Galatians 5:22-23 New International Version (NIV)
