To Do List

A friend on mine emailed me yesterday after the post about the extra mile.  He mentioned in his email that on a recent trip to the Happiest Place on Earth he noticed a t-shirt with 4 lines on the front – get up, love god, love people, go to bed!  That’s a pretty awesome To Do list.

todo

So, I decided to quickly create a t-shirt or two (or three)myself – feel free to order yourself one!  Remember these designs were built in like 5 minutes each! 🙂  Anyway, see if you can accomplish that simple list each day.  It’s pretty much the first and second law!

37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.” Matthew 22:37-40 (NIV)

It’s Simple

28 Then they asked him, “What must we do to do the works God requires?

29 Jesus answered, “The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent.”  John 6:28-29

It’s Simple, but then why is it so hard?

Seek the simple work today.

Producing and Consuming

One of the messages I heard this weekend was around simplicity.  Of course this is a pretty hot cultural topic these days, but even so it’s an important attribute and discipline to consider.

I am not usually a note taker, as I find that I learn better by just listening ( or maybe I am just lazy?) – but I did stop and write down this one catch phrase, as I thought it would be good to pass along to all of you guys out there.  It was a great summary of the talk, and it is a phrase that you can remember and mediate on.

Simply put

Produce more than you consume
That’s a pretty simple statement that points to huge changes in the way you think about things in life.  It could impact the way you interact with people, the way you purchase things, and what you hold first in your life.
And then, the Lord working the way he does, last night I received an email with a link to this short 60 second video which I thought was another good reminder about one aspect of living simple – and maybe the most visible – what we own.
Consider your life and think a little about how much you are producing, and how much you are consuming?

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Galatians 5:22-23 New International Version (NIV)
