Go and Do Likewise

Some times I find myself wondering what I should try to do in my days as I interact with people and go whatever it is that I do.

Yesterday during the sermon at church I was reminded of this

25 On one occasion an expert in the law stood up to test Jesus. “Teacher,” he asked, “what must I do to inherit eternal life?”

26 “What is written in the Law?” he replied. “How do you read it?”

27 He answered, “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’; and, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’”

28 “You have answered correctly,” Jesus replied. “Do this and you will live.” Luke 10:26-28 New International Version (NIV)

So, I wrote it down for you.

I think I have written something like this before, but since it seems that I get distracted on other things, and sometimes have to check myself around what I am doing, I thought that it wouldn’t hurt to say it again.

That’s pretty much all we have to do.  So, Go and Do the same as you travel the road!

Not Enough

Wow,  I have a real bad strain of writers block this morning, I have stared at this blank page for what has seemed like hours, and nothing would appear until finally I remember this, and well that’s all I have today.

On your best day you are not good enough, and on your worst day, you are not bad enough.

of course that is in reference to how God has extended his Love to you.  It’s always there, regardless of your actions.

If only we could live like that!

Love Does!

But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. Romans 5:8 NLT

Upgrades, Tweets and Others

It’s Friday, so I will be careful as I head to work today to avoid the leaks from the garbage truck – both literally and metaphorically. ( is that the correct usage of that word?)

I upgraded to Word Press 3.4 this morning and it’s supposed to do cool things with tweets, so I had to find a good one.  This is one I discovered last month, that I thought was really really thought-provoking. (If in the email feed you just see a twitter URL, the tweet says this “So far I’ve been able to passionately love everyone I’ve met today. But now I’m going to have to leave my office.”)

In my case, I might change it and say “now I’m going to leave for the office.”)

Think about it!

7You are rich in everything—in faith, in speaking, in knowledge, in truly wanting to help, and in the love you learned from us. In the same way, be strong also in the grace of giving.
8 I am not commanding you to give. But I want to see if your love is true by comparing you with others that really want to help.9You know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. You know that Christ was rich, but for you he became poor so that by his becoming poor you might become rich.2 Corinthians 8:7-9 New Century Version (NCV)

Crazy Little Thing Called Love

For some reason the Queen song “Crazy Little Thing Called Love” has bounced around my head all morning.  I can’t explain it, nor can I handle it.  I am sure my performances this morning will continue to keep me off the Sunday morning praise team, but it has implemented the thought deep in my head.

And I wondered what about love should I be considering this morning. Then, I just happened on over to John 17, where the Christ says twice

12 My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you.

17 This is my command: Love each other.

Do you think he meant for us to do that?

It might be time for us to “get round to it”!

Ready Freddie?

A Borrowed Thought

I have to admit, my mind is a little distracted today, and even though it’s Lip’s Appreciation Day, my lips are sort of silent.  ( But it does make me wonder how one would celebrate Lip’s Appreciation Day?)

And so, this morning, just a simple verse pulled from the verse of the day on Bible Gateway’s front page. The words reminded me of someone, and seemed right to share with you.

12-14So, chosen by God for this new life of love, dress in the wardrobe God picked out for you: compassion, kindness, humility, quiet strength, discipline. Be even-tempered, content with second place, quick to forgive an offense. Forgive as quickly and completely as the Master forgave you. And regardless of what else you put on, wear love. It’s your basic, all-purpose garment. Never be without it. Colossians 3:12 The Message (MSG)
