A Light Has Come

It’s been several months since the last post to the Daily Buffet.  I finally arrived at the point at the end of a very difficult 2 years that I could not generate content that I felt was worth posting.  Most of my thoughts bounced between being  either too personal to share on the internet or redundant from days past.

However, the break has ‘done me good’ and I feel like posting again soon.  Expect the New Year to bring an update to the blog, both in content and in look and feel.

In the meantime, celebrate the coming of the light and the appearance of the Creator in the form of man.  His coming, his life and his sacrifice changed everything for all of us.

Oh and here’s one of my favorite songs from the season this year’s.

Here’s to another year where the Light chases and finds us!

O Come Emmanual!

A Message From Linus

How about a little wisdom from Linus on this joyous Christmas Eve.

That’s what Christmas is all about Charlie Brown!  Let us keep this sign close to our hearts all year long.

10 And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.

11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.

12 And this shall be a sign unto you
Luke 2:10-12 KJV

Merry Christmas!!

He’s Coming

Here is a great little video that you should take a few minutes and watch, it does a brilliant job of telling the story and explaining why we are so excited at Christmas!

Merry Christmas

But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. (Luke 2:10, 11 NIV)

Share Christmas

Wow, It’s just one week away. Christmas is upon us.  Here are a couple things that may get you into the Christmas spirit and help you remember what a great hope we have in the birth of that little baby in a barn two thousand years ago.

The first thing is the Christmas Story Tracker from YouVersion.  Supposedly, each time a person reads the story of the birth of the Christ, they increase the counter and place a star on the map where it’s happening.  It’s pretty interesting.  So, read the story, and light up a star!

The second is this clip of the birth from the new History Channel series that will be airing in the 5 Sundays leading up to Easter in the spring.  Check out the scene from Bethlehem. It’s pretty good telling, although I think some of it moves a little from the words captured in scripture – but hey, I wasn’t there!  I especially love the look on Mary and Joseph’s face at the end.  I know they had great faith and heard what the angel Gabriel had told them, but when all those events took place with their baby boy, I am certain the astonishment was amazing.  If only we could have that same sort of astonishment and joy when we think about the coming of the Christ!

10 But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. 11 Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.  Luke 2:1-11
