Peyton Again

Peyton Manning came off the bench yesterday to win the day for the Broncos.

That was pretty cool!

A hero comes and saves the day.  A man, who has been one of the best at his craft, waits in humility until there is an opportunity and then graciously does his thing for the win.

These types of moments seem rare in our modern times and I believe there something about this moment that should make us stop and wonder. There’s an element of inspiration in this event. I hope you spend a few minutes today finding it.

24 In response to all he has done for us, let us outdo each other in being helpful and kind to each other and in doing good.  Hebrews 10:24 Living Bible (TLB)

Here We Go

And we’re off!

It’s a new year.  It’s 2016!

What should we do?  All these days and hours lay in front of us. Let’s make them something worth remembering, being acutely aware all through the year that the Father is leading the way for us.

As the WIRE e-mail I received this week stated let’s ‘hold tight to the promises of God, and move forward—trusting that no trouble will surpass God’s ability to protect us and care for us.’

Who know what lies in the balance!

“This resurrection life you received from God is not a timid, grave-tending life. It’s adventurously expectant, greeting God with a childlike ‘What’s next, Papa?’” (Romans 8:15-17 MSG)

Oh and a programming note.  Be sure to check out the updated website.  More changes to the email subscription coming soon.

A Light Has Come

It’s been several months since the last post to the Daily Buffet.  I finally arrived at the point at the end of a very difficult 2 years that I could not generate content that I felt was worth posting.  Most of my thoughts bounced between being  either too personal to share on the internet or redundant from days past.

However, the break has ‘done me good’ and I feel like posting again soon.  Expect the New Year to bring an update to the blog, both in content and in look and feel.

In the meantime, celebrate the coming of the light and the appearance of the Creator in the form of man.  His coming, his life and his sacrifice changed everything for all of us.

Oh and here’s one of my favorite songs from the season this year’s.

Here’s to another year where the Light chases and finds us!

O Come Emmanual!

Asparagus in Water?

My parents have grown asparagus in their garden for as long as I can remember.  Asparagus and rhubarb.   Amazingly, I still have not adopted much of a taste for either, however, I find that I have some sort of affinity for the thought of both.  So yesterday, when I saw this tweet from Mashable about Asparagus water at Whole Foods, I had to explore.

Essentially, some one created a health product with asparagus and water together based on some ideas of a healthy combination of water and veggies. However, this product was apparently created incorrectly and quickly left the shelves.

So, what’s the story for me?  Well, not much really, except I think it’s a reminder to us as we market ourselves to make sure we are known by the things that we should be known by.  Let’s not try to make something out of, well something we should not.

Maybe something simple like this..

35 By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.  John 13

Trust

I am trying to get my schedule under control and get back to the keyboard, however it is presenting quite a challenge at the moment.  I am missing the time I spent thinking and preparing to put thoughts down.  This morning I have one quick thing, or thought. It’s just this – trust.

The Lord is not looking for us to fix stuff or to make things right, he just wants us to trust in Him and let him do the work.

It’s such a Sermon on the Mount type of thought.

33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.  Matthew 6

Anyway, find ways to just simply trust today.
