To You

Last night I was reading the story of the inventor of the Morse code- Samuel Morse. The backstory that created the desire to develop a way of faster communication is fascinating, I recommend you go look it up.

But what I wanted to point out today is what he said after it was all over and he was provided many accolades.

“I have made a valuable application of electricity not because I was
superior to other men but solely because God, who meant it for mankind,
must reveal it to someone and He was pleased to reveal it to me.”

That is such an interesting and unusual attitude. But it’s one that shows great faith in the creator and his willingness to be a part of our lives. It is a thought that should make us pause to think about how the Lord is using us and what he will reveal to us that we should be using for his purpose.

As you go about doing today be used as an instrument in the hands of the Creator.

For we are co-workers in God’s service; you are God’s field, God’s building. (1 Corinthians 3:9 NIV)

Snow? Really?

Here’s a week that can make you a believe in all that cataclysmic end of the world stuff. The Blood Moon. The ridiculous temperature change over the last few days, including snow this morning! (My workplace is having a picnic today–oops) And then my sister tells me that all the dates this week are the same forward and backward.

4/15/14 -> 41514 = 41514.

Try that at home!

And on top of that it’s tax day! Has to be a sign!

Fortunately our trust is in other places and we have these words to keep us from guessing.

“But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. “Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come. So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him. (Matthew 24:36, 42, 44 NIV)

Live today like it’s the end, it might be!!!

Or might not!

Party Party

Hey all you member of  LLAMAS out there, today is the today you have waited for all year!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Vae_AkLb4Q

It’s Louie Louie Day!  The best party song ever according to some.  Take a listen and get the party started. Or maybe your prefer Paul Revere and the Raiders!

Either way, it’s a great way to get the weekend start off correctly, as you continue to utilize the year in an intentional, directional way.

150 Praise the Lord!
Praise God in his sanctuary;
praise him in his mighty heavens!
2 Praise him for his mighty deeds;
praise him according to his excellent greatness!
3 Praise him with trumpet sound;
praise him with lute and harp!
4 Praise him with tambourine and dance;
praise him with strings and pipe!
5 Praise him with sounding cymbals;
praise him with loud clashing cymbals!
6 Let everything that has breath praise the Lord!
Praise the Lord! Psalm 150:1-6 (ESV)

Whose concern?

This is a fascinating quote from the Savior as he speaks with the leader of his team, Peter.

But when Jesus turned and looked at his disciples, he rebuked Peter. “Get behind me, Satan!” he said. “You do not have in mind the concerns of God, but merely human concerns.” (Mark 8:33 NIV)

And what is amazing is those words are still a guidepost we can use today. Whose concerns are we filling our day with, our concerns or His concerns? What is driving us, what is guiding our decisions, where are we focused?

Whose concern is your concern?

Do For One

As you are rambling around today doing things and doing unto others, here is a little thought that should help you with those interactions. This little principle should help us break down the enormity of the things that are there to be done.

Do for one what you wish you could do for everyone.

Focus on one and let the glory of God been shown.

Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers. (Galatians 6:9, 10 NIV)

Then as you move along along you can start to increase the number of ones.
