Moving on

Here’s to Thursday! May it be a great day and may this little bit of wisdom help get you started.

Do not let the shadows of your past darken the doorstep of your future. Forgive and forget.

Oh and don’t forget where your strength to do that comes from!

Forgive us as we forgive others. (Matthew 6:12 GWT)

Strength

I only have a little time this morning to post, so here’s just a simple thought for the day.

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. So do not be attracted by strange, new ideas. Your strength comes from God’s grace, not from rules about food, which don’t help those who follow them. (Hebrews 13:8, 9 NLT)

I love that he is the same and that our strength comes from his grace, just like it did 2000 years ago! That’s awesome!!

Oh by the way, the rules about food in that passage refers to ceremonies about eating, so you can just read that and think about false rules and standards that are created but are not valuable or needed. ( or take a look at the rest of the chapter for context!)

Calm and trust

A few months ago I wrote about the borrowed concept of trusting God with your lunch and I shared this passage.

Lord, my heart isn’t proud; my eyes aren’t conceited. I don’t get involved with things too great or wonderful for me. No. But I have calmed and quieted myself like a weaned child on its mother; I’m like the weaned child on me. (Psalms 131:1, 2 CEB)

I think it’s a good one to revisit and think about. The whole idea of calming yourself and putting you trust in this wonderful creator is something I think we do not consider enough.

As you go forward today, trust God with the small things and calm yourself. I am certain you will find a new peace and be able to tackle whatever is laid in front of you today!

O Lord, my heart is not proud, nor do I have a haughty look. I do not have great aspirations, or concern myself with things that are beyond me. Indeed I am composed and quiet, like a young child carried by its mother; I am content like the young child I carry. (Psalms 131:1, 2 NET)

Heart and Flesh

Yesterday the worship leader pulled out one of my favorite Chris Tomlin numbers – I Will Rise. It’s such a great song about the glory in which we hope. If you know the song, you might recognize these words

Whom have I in heaven but you? And earth has nothing I desire besides you. My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. (Psalm 73:25, 26 NIV)

Remember where your strength comes from and get out there and make this an awesome day!

Fridays Blessing

It’s Friday, the end of the work week and the end of a very unusual period of time in my life. Monday will mark a radical change for me, so I find this simple prayer of David very meaningful today. May it bring a blessing to you as well.

May the Lord answer you when you are in distress; may the name of the God of Jacob protect you. May he give you the desire of your heart and make all your plans succeed. (Psalm 20:1, 4 NIV)
