The Math of Love

Here’s a little Valentines Day mathematics to share with your loved ones.

Design

Enjoy the day.

22 Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands as you do to the Lord.

25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her  Ephesians 5:23,25

Enjoy Being Kind

I find this to be interesting.. especially the last phrase.

18 There is no God like you.
You forgive those who are guilty of sin;
you don’t look at the sins of your people
who are left alive.
You will not stay angry forever,
because you enjoy being kind.  Micah 7:18 (NCV)

always

Today’s one of those days where I have a lot on my mind, but not a lot to say.  However, I did read this as the verse of the day on Bible Gateway(yes, I am cheating today!). However, it was something I needed to read this morning, especially the last part.  Maybe it will benefit you today as well.

Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. 1 Corinthians 13: 6-7 NIV

Citizenship?

Last Friday a co-worker of mine braved the coming snow from Nemo and made his way downtown to the courthouse to attend the ceremony where he would officially become a citizen of the United States of America.

It was quite a day for him!  One that he had worked towards for some time.  And it was not that he didn’t love his original country, but he had developed reasons to become a part of this one.

I found myself quite proud of my American heritage as well.  But it also got me thinking about me citizenship and how I can relate to his earning and desire to be a part of a different place.  No, I really have no desire to change my American citizenship, but on the spiritual side, well that’s something to consider.

For it’s on the spiritual side that we find that we who accept the Christ are given a new citizenship

19 Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with God’s people and also members of his household, Eph 2:19 NIV

and are called to live in a way shows we belong to a different place

11 Dear friends, I urge you, as foreigners and exiles, to abstain from sinful desires, which wage war against your soul. 12 Live such good lives among the pagans that, though they accuse you of doing wrong, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day he visits us. 1 Peter 2:11-12 (NIV)

But for some reason, I think that will also make the place were we are better!

Anyway, give thought to the way you consider your citizenship today.

Slight Adjustments

I was doing some work around the house this morning and noticed how my eyes just didn’t feel right.  Luckily, just a quick trip in front of the mirror to slip in my contacts alleviated that problem.  And really, those optical wonders only offer me a slight correction, but they make a world of difference in the ways things work!

And so maybe this can be a contact for you spirit today, providing just a slight bit of optical correction to keep you focused correctly.

We must keep our eyes on Jesus, who leads us and makes our faith complete. Hebrews 12:2 Contemporary English Version (CEV)
