hm.. This is one of those mornings when I wish this were my thought:

“I rejoice in following your statutes as one rejoices in great riches.” Psalm 119:14 NIV

Instead, I am not sure that I have even thought about any of those things this morning as the house was busy with preparations for another day.  Interestingly enough rejoicing, great riches nor following his statutes has entered the vast emptiness that sits between my two sound catching devices.

So today here is a simple yet somewhat complex reminder of the pleasure and satisfaction that awaits us when we are joyful because we have surrendered to the teachings of the Christ.  It’s quite a paradox, but one I plan on dwelling on today.  Think about this. Sometimes, when I see the 220 million dollar Power Ball sign I imagine what I could do with that money – and the projected happiness it would bring him.  Well, I know I have never sat and imagined what it would be like if I actually followed the Lord’s statutes and the various rewards that come from that.  Ones that actually have long term value.  Try that little exercise today.

I noticed I didn’t get the link to yesterday’s video in the post, and some of you who receive the buffet via email ( you can subscribe on the right) cannot see embedded videos.  So here’s the link!

What Do You Have To Be Thankful?

Hey, Take a few minutes to watch this video. I have a feeling that all of us have prayed this prayer before, and maybe are right now. If you can’t turn up the audio, the dude in the video prays “Lord, I am really struggling, show me what I have to be thankful for.” Then just watch, and consider your own blessed life.

I have mentioned before how blessed we are to have the simple things.  Rejoice in those, treasure them, and then use them not for yourself, but to make others better.

16 Rejoice always, 17 pray continually, 18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.  1 Thessalonians 5 16-18

Oh give thanks to the Lord; call upon his name; make known his deeds among the peoples! Psalm 105:1 ESV

Fill in the Blanks

As you know I am always on the alert and lookout for cool and helpful stuff to share with y’all.  Last night before I stumbled into the bed, I discovered this neat little challenge in some stuff I was researching.  With school starting and all, this seemed to be a good exercise to complete.

It sort of goes like this:

Fill in the Blanks:

Today I will choose ________ instead of __________ !

You know things like this

Today I will choose being positive instead of giving into negativity.

or

Today I will choose forgiveness instead of holding grudged.

or mine for today

Today I will choose to let God lead instead of trying to lead God !

What’s yours?

“Five sparrows are sold for just two pennies, but God doesn’t forget a one of them. Even the hairs on your head are counted. So don’t be afraid! You are worth much more than many sparrows.” Luke 12:6-7 CEV

Grab It

Last week, I visited the physical therapist to have some work done on my “crunchy” patella tendon.  While I was there the PT asked me if I had ever had a cortison shot in my knee. Upon my postive reply she ask when?  After thinking for a moment, I remember my last shot before the Boston in 1996, so I replied 96.  She laughed and walked off. Ouch!

Last night, my sister sent me some pictures of one of my childhood homes that she visited during her high school reunion, I barely recongized the place as it has changed so much.  Ouch! Oh and then I realized that my parents were around my age when we moved out of that house.  Double Ouch!!!

Today, I dropped my two children off for the start of high school and junior high respectivitely. Triple Ouch!

I have been reminded with quite a lot of force over the last few days about the passing of time and the true breivity of life.   However, I am also reminded about the richness of blessings that I have enjoyed in this life here, even while I focus on the coming promise!

Even so, there’s no getting around the actuteness of our lives.  But this is not a time to be sorrowful, nor regretful.  This is a time to throw up your RAWK Fist and grab life, before it’s gone!

31So eat your meals heartily, not worrying about what others say about you—you’re eating to God’s glory, after all, not to please them. As a matter of fact, do everything that way, heartily and freely to God’s glory. 1 Corinthians 10:31 The Message (MSG)
