Wisdom when you need it

Well its officially two weeks away!

Dinkletown children: Ho, ho! Away we go!
With rosey cheeks and hearts aglowin’
Hey, hey! Our favorite day!
It makes us want to cheer!

Man, I better do some shopping and decorating.

Speaking of decorating.  Check these out, the first one was from Brandon, the second from my Dad.  Make sure you read he comments under the second.

Nice!

“Good news is that I truly out did myself this year with my Christmas  decorations. The bad news is that I had to take him down after 2 days. I had more people come screaming up to my house than ever. Great stories. But two things made me take it down.

First, the cops advised me that it would cause traffic accidents as they almost wrecked when they drove by.

Second, a 55 year old lady grabbed the 75 pound ladder almost killed herself putting it against my house and didn’t realize it was fake until she climbed to the top (she was not happy). By the way, she was one of many people who attempted to do that. My yard couldn’t take it either. I have more than a few tire tracks where people literally drove up my yard.” – some guy named Greg

Anyway, sometimes we make strange decisions.  Sometimes, we need wisdom. As many of you know, I have been making some decision lately.  When you are faced with choices,  its always good to seek Gods wisdom.  The best way I have found to address these types of things is to turn it over to God.  He will direct your ways.  Its really amazing what happens when you turn it over and let God handle difficult situations.

Proverbs 4:10-12 (New International Version)

10 Listen, my son, accept what I say,
and the years of your life will be many.

11 I guide you in the way of wisdom
and lead you along straight paths.

12 When you walk, your steps will not be hampered;
when you run, you will not stumble.

Have a great Day!

Oh and the song from Josh’s song list is

The Lord will give you a sign

The countdown continues and so, I thought I would just keep sharing Josh’s great list of Christmas Hits.  Yesterday – Winger’s Silent Night ,  Winger – That’s  right- The 80’s rock!  I hope this helps get in the the spirit.  For me personally I have two songs competing for time in my head, this morning I am alternating between

Glória in excélsis Deo

and

Dinkletown children: Ya, hey! We’re glad to say
That Christmas time is here!

We can’t believe it’s Christmas!
Been waiting for a million hours
Can’t believe it’s Christmas,
Oh what a nifty day!

We can’t believe it’s Christmas!

Man, this is a great great time of year! Enjoy it – draw closer to your savior, as you remember his birth. Immanuel, God with us.  That’s something to get exciting about!

Isaiah 7:14 (New International Version)

14 Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel.

Matthew 1:23 (New International Version)

23“The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel”—which means, “God with us.”

Be Confident

Wow!  only 17 days until Christmas!  It just makes me want to sing!  I have a facebook friend who is posting a Christmas song each day until Christmas.  Yesterday his post was Twisted Sister’s ” I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus”.   Something seems really really odd about that! (thanks Josh!)

Anyway, lets continue on, and continue in him – as we have promises waiting for us, and when He comes back you want to be confident!  So even though we are saved by grace, it seems to be that there is an expectation of some sort of righteous living. That’s the daily transformation to be more and more like him.  We can do it!

1 John 2:28-29 (New International Version)

28And now, dear children, continue in him, so that when he appears we may be confident and unashamed before him at his coming.

29If you know that he is righteous, you know that everyone who does what is right has been born of him.

Mercy Exists

Over the last few days I have been writing alot (and thinking alot) about humility and reducing your own self thought – and giving it over to God.  This is a harder thing to put into practice then it seems on paper, but we all know that when you do it always works out.   The rest we get, the inner peace, it is absolutely amazing.  However, you can’t stop, its an everyday thing.  Hebrews 4 talks about this a little bit.  It holds up that ultimate rest and peace that we will attain when we hold fast and be diligent and submit ourselves everyday.

So today hold fast to your confession, and live boldly knowing the victory is yours.  Be transformed by humility, and mercy and grace!

Hebrews 4:14-16 (New International Version)

14Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has gone through the heavens,[a] Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. 15For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet was without sin. 16Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.

The Annoucement

With only 18 days left until Christmas I think its time to start the rejoicing!  Today lets look at the event that happening several months before the birth – Gabriel’s visit. Here we find words like Rejoice, blessed, great, Highest.  Surely a great and wonderful thing was about to happen for all mankind.

So as you continue to shop, and decorate and make merry with friends.  Remember, the wonderful plan that was set up years before this birth to make this historical birth take place.

He will be Great!  and I stand in awe – I hope you find some time to as well.

Luke 1:26-33

26-28In the sixth month of Elizabeth’s pregnancy, God sent the angel Gabriel to the Galilean village of Nazareth to a virgin engaged to be married to a man descended from David. His name was Joseph, and the virgin’s name, Mary. Upon entering, Gabriel greeted her:
Good morning!
You’re beautiful with God’s beauty,
Beautiful inside and out!
God be with you.

29-33She was thoroughly shaken, wondering what was behind a greeting like that. But the angel assured her, “Mary, you have nothing to fear. God has a surprise for you: You will become pregnant and give birth to a son and call his name Jesus.

He will be great,
be called ‘Son of the Highest.’
The Lord God will give him
the throne of his father David;
He will rule Jacob’s house forever—
no end, ever, to his kingdom.”
