FTW

For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.

Philippians 1:21 NASB

Either way we win!

Boy, that makes Monday’s a whole lot easier!

Drives

Well, I have to say, I must apologize for not posting yesterday.  I had to leave my house early and head to the office a few hours away.  I arrived just as my first conference call started.  As I pulled into my parking place, I immediately realized that my laptop bag and it’s contents where still sitting in my home office many miles away.  After walking around the parking lot for a few minutes I jumped in the car and drove back home.

This event sort of messed up my entire day’s schedule as you can imagine!  So, what’s the moral of this story?

No Idea!

Anyway, it’s Friday!  So let’s be free!

For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. Galatians 5:13 ESV

You Can’t Stop Me

Today’s motivation comes from Andy Mineo’s song “You Can’t Stop Me”.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t7Xdx98pyWc

In particular this section here

They try to shut us down, and it ain’t gon’ slide
Only thing I fear is God and he on my side
That’s the confidence of God, cause he got me
That’s why I really feel like

You can’t stop me

Yep

What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? Romans 8:31 ESV

Staying Focused

This morning I feel like I have played the distraction game since the ‘opening bell’.  Focus is what I am desiring, and so I stopped and examined a few thoughts like this

Let your eyes look directly forward, and your gaze be straight before you. Proverbs 4:25 ESV

and

Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. Colossians 3:2 ESV

They sort of clear the haze, so to speak.

Hungry Like a Wolf

Yesterday was Duran Duran Appreciation Day.

That must explain why I was so anxious all day long.

And yet, I am not even sure why this would bother me at all. Maybe, it was just the Super Moon?

Anyway,  Duran Duran makes me think of three  four things.

1. I guy I used to work with who we called ‘The Reflex’ because of his awesome Duran Duran style hair cut.  (yes, this was like two years ago.)

2. Rio.

3. A cassette tape I borrowed from a classmate in the spring of my senior year of high school, which I still have, and still have not been able to return.

and wolves – hungry ones.

Interestingly enough, the Lord used an analogy about wolves when he sent out his workers into the country side to spread his message in Luke 10.

Go your way; behold, I am sending you out as lambs in the midst of wolves.

This has always been a confusing piece of scripture for me.  The application today seems hard to draw, especially the part later in the chapter about kicking the dust off your sandals.  However, I think we can assume that as followers of the Christ, we should take a similar mindset as those 72 in Luke 10.  As we go out into the world, we are to be like lambs in the midst of wolves.  Not like wolves in the midst of lambs.  Think about how that might change your interaction with the people you meet today.
