A Hymn for Today

This song has been in my heart this morning.  I hope that it stays there for a while.  It’s from All Sons and Daughters and is based on this exceptional bit of Psalm

But I have trusted in Your lovingkindness;
My heart shall rejoice in Your salvation.
I will sing to the Lord,
Because He has dealt bountifully with me. Psalm 13:5-6 (NASB)

Will you sing it with me today?

I will sing sing sing to my God my King
For all else fades away
And I will love love love
With this heart You’ve made
For You’ve been good always

Take it up

It’s another day, let’s do this

Then he said to them all: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me. (Luke 9:23 NIV)

But God shows…

Can there be any better way to start a Monday than a reminder like this:

But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8 ESV

Waiting

There are times in our lives when things just don’t come our way quick enough. Periods of restlessness, or frustration or apparent indecision or failure.  It’s during these times that verses like this remind us who is in control and who’s time-table we follow.

These verses are especially captivating for me now.

Rest in the Lord and wait patiently for Him;
Do not fret because of him who prospers in his way,
Because of the man who carries out wicked schemes. Psalm 37:7 (NASB)

40 I waited patiently for the Lord;

And He inclined to me and heard my cry. Psalm 40:1 (NASB)

Mercy

Today, I wanted to share a few words from the Christ that I have found extremely difficult to keep in the forefront of my mind over the last several days.  However, it’s something that when we obey, it makes the world such a better place.

Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful. Luke 6:36 (NASB)

As I thought about this verse and it’s positive impacts on the day to day of our lives, I was reminded of this post from the archives.
