A Morning Song

As you know, many mornings I wake up singing, and today was no different, as I have been fully engulfed in singing this little praise song.

Lord, I give you my heart, I give you my soul,

Every breath that I take, every waffle that I make.

Go ahead and listen and get it in your mind as well.

Yes, it is very unusual in my house in the mornings, ( or maybe anytime).  Anyway, I hope that you allow the Creator to have his way with you today – each and every breath, every drive, every word, every thought, and yes even every waffle that you make!

10 For you are great and perform wonderful deeds.

    You alone are God.

11 Teach me your ways, O Lord,
that I may live according to your truth!
Grant me purity of heart,
so that I may honor you.
12 With all my heart I will praise you, O Lord my God.
I will give glory to your name forever,
13 for your love for me is very great.
You have rescued me from the depths of death  Psalm 86:10-13 New Living Translation (NLT)

Making it Count

A few weeks ago, I grabbed my bow saw and went to town on my back yard crêpe myrtles which had not been cut for several years.  These things where well over 20 feet tall.  So yesterday I enjoyed the fall weather by cutting up the trimmings into manageable bundles and moving them from the back yard to the street where the city will hopefully pick them up and turn them into mulch!

It was a nice quiet day outside and I was really enjoy the feeling of sort of being a woodsman, when in the distance I could hear Amazing Grace being placed on bag pipes.  That may seem really odd, however, I have to tell you that just a few hundred yards away, through the great wood, lies a cemetery and some of the quietest neighbors in the world!

But as I said on this day, they were not silent and there was something about the combination of the stillness and the bag pipes that reminded me, again, in a very poignant way to make sure I am taking advantage of each and every day I have in this blue ball.

So, today, in repeating a message that bears repeating, Make It Count.

33 Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.

34 “So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today. Matthew 6:33-34 New Living Translation (NLT)

Possible?

Do you ever feel like you are looking at impossible tasks laid out in front of you? Mountains you can’t move? Maybe this little bit of speaking from the Son of God will help. He said this after being questioned about a camel going through the eye of a needle, and rich men needed a illite bit of help. Which is even more remarkable because rich man can do anything, right?

Jesus looked at them and said, “For people this is impossible, but for God all things are possible.” (Matthew 19:26 NCV)

Don’t tackle it by yourself, turn it over and watch Him work in you!

10-4 Amigo

Since this is October 4, I fully expected today to be C-B Radio Day.  Turns out it’s just National Taco Day, which evidently is actually Aztecian food, not Mexican food.

In 1520, the conquistador Hernando Cortez wrote to King Charles V of Spain to describe his experiences in the New World. In his letter he mentioned a delicious meal the Aztec inhabitants prepared with “tlaxcalli” or “tortilla.” It is the first historical reference to tacos. – From Punchbowl.com

So, that’s that.  And we know that everyone loves tacos!

Speaking of love, I discovered this great motto yesterday.

“Love God, love people, do stuff!”- Bob Goff

I love it more than tacos!  I mean , what else is there?

And since we are talking about tacos, which makes me think about fish tacos, Baja Style! Anyway, tacos and loving and doing stuff, I can’t help but to harken back to the Feeding of the 5000 and how Jesus instructed his posse when they ask him to disperse the crowd so they would have time to get to the restaurants before the game started, before nightfall.

16 But Jesus said, “That isn’t necessary—you feed them.” Matthew 14:16

If that isn’t an indictment towards us to act, I am not sure what is!

Passing Time?

I ran across this earlier this week, and I can’t remember where, so I am failing to give credit to the creator, but I still loved the thought.

“Vision w/o action is a dream.Action w/o vision is simply passing time.”

Let’s not just pass time.  Let’s take action based on our vision – which I hope is your hope and faith!

22 You see that his faith and his actions were working together, and his faith was made complete by what he did. 23 And the scripture was fulfilled that says, “Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness,” and he was called God’s friend. 24 You see that a person is considered righteous by what they do and not by faith alone. James 2 NIV

Let’s me intentional.  Lets not wander with no vision, and lets not let our vision be only a dream.  Put your faith into action and make the today something great!
