Go and Do Likewise

Some times I find myself wondering what I should try to do in my days as I interact with people and go whatever it is that I do.

Yesterday during the sermon at church I was reminded of this

25 On one occasion an expert in the law stood up to test Jesus. “Teacher,” he asked, “what must I do to inherit eternal life?”

26 “What is written in the Law?” he replied. “How do you read it?”

27 He answered, “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’; and, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’”

28 “You have answered correctly,” Jesus replied. “Do this and you will live.” Luke 10:26-28 New International Version (NIV)

So, I wrote it down for you.

I think I have written something like this before, but since it seems that I get distracted on other things, and sometimes have to check myself around what I am doing, I thought that it wouldn’t hurt to say it again.

That’s pretty much all we have to do.  So, Go and Do the same as you travel the road!

Live to let them praise

Last night at the weekly men’s study I attend we discussed parts of the Sermon on the Mount, where the Christ changes the story of his listeners. Instead of following the law and being legalistic he says to guard your heart and to deal with people in the right way. This particular verse stood out to me last night.

In the same way, you should be a light for other people. Live so that they will see the good things you do and will praise your Father in heaven. (Matthew 5:16 NCV)

Make others praise your Father by the way you live today!!!!

Arky Arky, Gophey Barky

I woke up singing a good old spiritual/children’s song this morning.  Join in if you know it.

Rise and shine and give God the glory glory,

Rise and shine and give God the glory glory,

Rise! and Shine and Give God the glory glory,

Children of the Lord.

If you don’t remember this song, maybe this little clip from the old movie Green Pastures will remind you.

So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God. ESV 1 Corinthians 10:31

I hope this song stays in your mind all day, and you live it out.

There’s going to be a floody floody…

On Stopping

Sometimes I get tired of writing, probably less than you get tired of reading, but last night was one of those nights.  As I was running around downtown after work enjoying the terrific fall weather, I pondered stopping posting on this blog.

There’s some white space to allow you to gather yourself and catch your breath.

and a little more.

Anyway, I was thinking about how I have written recently about not stopping and never giving up, and how that would be a very odd time to stop writing. And so, hopefully to your delight, and not your dismay, I placed my nimble fingers on the keyboard again this morning for another round of self encouragement.

You wearied yourself by such going about, but you would not say, ‘It is hopeless.’ You found renewal of your strength, and so you did not faint.  Isaiah 57:10

5 Days, 5 Islands, 703 Miles…

Yep, it’s Friday, and you probably feel like you are finishing the fifth of five epic days.  How can you go on and make it through this last day?   Maybe this will give you a little inspiration, as you probably are not about to tackle your fifth Ironman Triathlon this week.  Yes, that’s right 5 Ironmans in one week – or should I say 5 days.  It’s called Epic5 and it happens at the end of Oct.   You might call it crazy.  You might find that insane.  I think it’s great motivation to keep you going on this Friday.

If they can do that with the bodies God gave them, what can you do today with what God gave you?

19 Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; 20 you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 New International Version (NIV)

Let’s Go!
