Drink Just Water Week

This week World Vision ACT:S is teaming up with water bottle manufacture MiiR to encourage people to just drink water.  They are calling it simply Drink Just Water Week.  You can read more about their efforts to raise awareness of the blessings water is to some, and have scarce it is to others here.

Here is what they are asking people to do today:

Monday July 9th: Drink Just Water
We invite you to join us in taking the challenge to drink just water for an entire week and donate the money you would typically spend on coffee, soda etc. to help fund clean water projects through World Vision or One Day’s Wages.

I recommend you try drinking only water this week as well.  I was actually looking forward to grabbing a huge sweet tea as I made my way back into the office and tackled the mountain of email I will have this morning, but I think I will attempt this challenge.  How about you?

I think it will also help me think about my need for only spiritual water as well.  Do you remember this little exchange?

When a Samaritan woman came to draw water, Jesus said to her, “Will you give me a drink?(His disciples had gone into the town to buy food.)

The Samaritan woman said to him, “You are a Jew and I am a Samaritan woman. How can you ask me for a drink?” (For Jews do not associate with Samaritans.)

10 Jesus answered her, “If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water.

11 “Sir,” the woman said, “you have nothing to draw with and the well is deep. Where can you get this living water? 12 Are you greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well and drank from it himself, as did also his sons and his livestock?”

13 Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, 14 but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.

15 The woman said to him, “Sir, give me this water so that I won’t get thirsty and have to keep coming here to draw water.”   John 4:7-15

As you drink water this week for your physical body, consider the blessing it is, and also spend a moment thinking about the words of this woman.  May we echo her words this week: “Sir, give me this water…”

Thoughts on power outages

It’s seems like the whole east coast is dealing with power issues this week from all these crazy intense storms. I thought I would just offer a quick reminder of where our power really comes from.

All power is his forever and ever. Amen. (1 Peter 5:11 NCV)

Despite any temporary electrical issues you may be having, remember your spiritual power source never will be turned off!

A Reminder about Mtn Dew

I was thinking about this run I took a few years ago when I encountered a gentleman walking on the road, I thought it would be good to re share:

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. 2 Corinthians 5:17 ESV
