Peanuts or Cashews Anyone?

Alright! Today is Grab Some Nuts Day.  If you have some cashews or peanuts or pecans handy – reach out and grab some and read the rest of this always surprising post.  And speaking of surprises and nuts, did you know that almonds and pistachios are the only nuts mentioned in the Bible?

I am a little bummed that I missed Ice Cream Sandwiches Day yesterday, so here is a link to a post earlier this year about those delicious deserts.  Evidently yesterday was also Wi-Fi day (8.02.11 b/g/n/n+), and so the geek inside of me is double sad about that.

And all of that reminds me of this fascinating verse in Nehemiah

10Nehemiah told the people, ” Enjoy your good food and wine and share some with those who didn’t have anything to bring. Don’t be sad! This is a special day for the LORD, and he will make you happy and strong.” Nehemiah 8:10 Contemporary English Version (CEV)

or maybe the ending in some other versions is better:

Do not grieve, for the joy of the LORD is your strength.” NIV

So, on this nutty day, eats some nuts, and maybe an ice cream sandwich. In fact – share them! And as always remember that the joy that comes from the Lord provides you incredible, but probably not edible, strength.

Ox in a Ditch

Whoa, my ox is in the ditch today and it has been one issue to another this morning.

It’s one of those days where the pressures of daily life begin to choke and pull on the serenity and peace that we love, but it is in these moments when we can show the light even brighter.  But boy is it hard to do.  This are the moments when the anxiety and stress cause the darkness to well up inside, instead of the light.

So, this verse today is for me, to help me keep me focus and strong in the ridiculousness of the business day.  I pray it helps you as well.

11 The LORD will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail.  Isaiah 58:11

Friday Friday Fri- Elevator Day

Phew, its one of those Fridays I have been looking forward to ( even though I don’t like to look past any days).  This Friday wraps up my 7 state, 1000+ mile driving, 600 mile flying week.  As I hopped out of the covers this morning, every part of my body screamed to get back in!  It’s one of  those Friday’s where I wish I were a coffee drinker ( and I mean a serious coffee drinker).  But instead, since I can’t hardly get the stuff though my lips, I will have to rely on something else to be a shot of energy in the arm ( or in the mind)

32 It is God who arms me with strength
and makes my way perfect.

33 He makes my feet like the feet of a deer;
he enables me to stand on the heights.

34 He trains my hands for battle;
my arms can bend a bow of bronze. Psalm 18:32-34 (New International Version)

Just reading that reminded me.  How could I forget – this is the last Friday in July.  Its National Talk on an Elevator day!  That’s something that should give us all a little bit of motivation today.  So get your strength from the Lord and reach out to those on the elevator today.  ( I usually take the stairs to the second floor, but today – elevators all around!)

I feel stronger all ready.  Lets Go!
