Talk Like Shakespeare Day

This is awesome! Today is Shakespeare’s 450th birthday. And with that, today is Talk Like Shakespeare Day.  Although I am not much of a poet, nor have I been confused with a bard, I will take a shot at talking like Shakespeare. It seems similar, but this is much harder than talk like a pirate day! Here is my take at iambic parameter. I am not claiming that this is good, but at least it’s fun.

Earth from heaven a fair sheep free taketh
Days and nights his words and deeds change maketh
Unrestraineth the dirt his life doth give
Aft’r’s life restor’d anon thou wilt live

ok, right, I didn’t say it was good!

Here is something else interesting. Evidently there’s a large rumor that Shakespeare wrote part of the K JV version and those conspiracy theorists point to Psalms 46. There is some sort of pattern of 46 and Shakespeare’s name there. With number magic you can make this happen.

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Selah. There is a river, the streams whereof shall make glad the city of God, the holy place of the tabernacles of the most High. God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved: God shall help her, and that right early. The heathen raged, the kingdoms were moved: he uttered his voice, the earth melted. The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah. Come, behold the works of the Lord, what desolations he hath made in the earth. He maketh wars to cease unto the end of the earth; he breaketh the bow, and cutteth the spear in sunder; he burneth the chariot in the fire. Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth. The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah. (Psalms 46:1-11 KJV)

However, Kyle Butt puts this rumored to bed in this good article here.

So you can read that sonnet for the promise it holds, shake and spear! Enjoy the day and create your own lyrics which bring glory to our creator.

Talk Like Shakespeare

It’s sort of a nothing day.  ’tis Friday, there’s no big holiday today,  except its talk like Shakespeare Day.   Ye know thy humble servant willst give ‘t a valiant attempteth.  But proper English is not until me, methinks..

So, I will let ol’ King James speak for me today.  This morning I found myself drawn right back to this blog’s theme verse as I pursued through 1 Corinthians.  I was spending a lot of time at the end of Chapter 10, but those thoughts are for later,  and  “since brevity is the soul of wit, And tediousness the limbs and outward flourishes, I will be brief

24Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain.

25And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible.

26I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air:

27But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway. 1 Cor 9

Enjoyeth the day, ‘t is Friday afterall!  God Speed, and do not be afraid of greatness!
