Daily Buffet

This is a good bit of advice that come across my twitter feed yesterday via a retweet.

Being positive doesn’t necessarily come naturally. You have to make that decision every day.

A slow leak can really be irritating! Always having to put air in your tires, never sure of the safety of your time, never knowing when you will come to your car to find a flat.

When that’s were I am today, after finding a flat over the weekend, I am in the garage this morning looking for that slow leak.

Amazingly, slow leaks can get us in lots of areas of life. A second look, a passing thought, a few extra calories here or there, or a task not done correctly .

So today I remind you to be diligent and to keep active removing any ‘nails’ that might be creating leaks in your life.

Be diligent to know the state of your flocks, And attend to your herds; (Proverbs 27:23 NKJV)

It’s an interesting weekend with lots of 50th anniversaries going on at the same time, CS Lewis, JFK and Dr Who.

So the DB honors all three by going back in time and reminded you of this quote of a quote from JFK.  He delivered these words on February 7, 1963 at the White House prayer breakfast ( Wow, that seems like something that would never be allowed in our current culture!)

This morning we pray together; this evening apart. But each morning and each evening, let us remember the advice of my fellow Bostonian, the Reverend Phillips Brooks: “Do not pray for easy lives. Pray to be stronger men! Do not pray for tasks equal to your powers. Pray for powers equal to your tasks.”  JFK

Let’s take that advice today and as C.S. Lewis has written, let us go “Further up and further in”  and become stronger men.  After all, if Christ is for you, what can you lose?

I often wonder why those that follow the Christ are known for their judgement, for their affinity for snakes , or for their ‘beliefs’, when then the Christ said we would be known by our love.

By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” (John 13:35 NIV)

Why are we not fighting to put this up in public buildings instead of the Ten Commandments?

I think I want to stick with the one who died and rose himself from death. Make love what you are known for today.

Sorry I have not posted the last few days. My mornings have been quite busy with some other activities.

Anyway, I have been thinking about this particular verse often over the last few weeks, and felt it was something good to share today
