Magnify

Yeah, it’s December!  How about a Christmas song a day all the way to Christmas?

Let’s start with one of my favorites ( but aren’t they all?).  Here’s a modern Christmas song from Mr. Tomlin.

And Mary said, “My soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, for he has regarded the low estate of his handmaiden. For behold, henceforth all generations will call me blessed;” Luke 1:46-48 (RSV)

This month let your soul magnify the gifts of the Lord!

Trust the Rock

Isaiah264

They say what’s in your mind comes out, and this morning I the idea of trust keeps swimming around in my mind.  Apparently, it’s been a topic of mine for the last couple of years.   Anyway, this morning this particular verse from Isaiah is hanging around, providing strength and encouragement to me as I get the day started.  Hope it helps you as well.

4 Trust in the Lord forever,
for the Lord, the Lord himself, is the Rock eternal. Isaiah 26:4 (NIV)

obeying

There’s always something to getting out and actually doing things – the right things!

For merely listening to the law doesn’t make us right with God. It is obeying the law that makes us right in his sight. Romans 2:13 NLT

The Sacrifice of Praise

Last night I spent a few minutes, and I say few because of the temperature, looking at the stars in the sky.  That is one great thing about cold clear winter nights – you can see so many stars! What a wonderful humbling sight!

And then for some reason, I woke up with this little tune in my head this morning

For the beauty of the earth,
For the beauty of the skies,
For the Love which from our birth
Over and around us lies:

Yep the old Pierpoint hymn that we all know and love.   I guess it could also be because Thanksgiving is upon us.

Anyway, it’s a good little hymn to have playing in the back of your head while the day goes on, and here is a nice pleasant version that I found online this morning.

Lord of all to thee we raise this our hymn of grateful praise!

“Holy, holy, holy is the Lord Almighty; the whole earth is full of His glory.” (Isaiah 6:3)
