The Happy People Challenge

WOW!. Check out this little challenge the Max Lucado has extended to the world.  He suggests that over a forty day period that you can make 100 people happy and through that effort, change the world around you. You may even find that you yourself are changed!  I think this is great, and I am going to give it a try.  Lucado explains it well here, but the ‘rules’ as he states them are:

  • Set out to create “100 extra mile moments” between February 9 and March 20 in which you intentionally seek to make someone happy by doing something more than you would typically do.
  • Share your experience in your neighborhood group, class or family, and on social media at #100happypeople.
  • Keep a journal in which you list the names of people and ways you tried to brighten their day.  Make note of the moment. What did you do? What did you learn? What was the setting?

This could be a lot of fun. I actually have set up a twitter filter for this hashtag and it’s pretty amazing the way people have got this thing started.

Let’s do it, let’s make a difference in the people we meet!
And remember the words of Nehemiah, as he called out

“I’m doing a great work; I can’t come down.” Nehemiah 6:2

Can’t Can’t

Here’s a little thought for Monday from a guy from a long time ago.

“My dear friend, clear your mind of can’t.” -Samuel Johnson

Miss

I don’t remember if I have shared this before, but since rediscovering this verse a few weeks ago, it continues to stick with me. It’s a good one

Make sure that no one misses out on God’s grace. Make sure that no root of bitterness grows up that might cause trouble and pollute many people. (‭Hebrews‬ ‭12‬:‭15‬ CEB)

Commits

It’s national signing day for HS footballers. They pledge their allegiance to a college today with much pomp and circumstance.

Where are you pledging?

Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him, and he will act. Psalm 37:5 ESV

Firm

I had an early start today and lost my morning writing time. So as I fired up the editor I found a draft post with only this verse in it from November.

Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings. (‭1 Peter‬ ‭5‬:‭9‬ NIV)

That’s a nice little reminder that all of us are going through sufferings and stuff in our days. Our calling is to stand firm! What better place is there to be?
