Melchizedek

Sometimes it is great to know that the son of  God is acting as our High Priest interceding and acting as a sacrifice for our sins.

14Since then we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. 15For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. 16Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

9And being made perfect, he became the source of eternal salvation to all who obey him, 10being designated by God a high priest after the order of Melchizedek.  Hebrews 4:14-16; 5:9-10 ESV

Abide

I just have a single thought today about how it’s important for us to remember that we live our lives as followers of Christ living with him.  It’s right there in John 15

Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me. 5I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing. John 15:4-5 (ESV)

That living with and walking side by side with enables us to do things we never thought we could to.

Go bear some fruit!

TIME IS SWIFT, MUCH IS TO BE DONE

There’s something to be said about realizing that the sun is not standing still.  (But really would it not be nice if it would for just a few hours!!)

Good thing is while we scramble to ‘achieve’ in the time we have, the Lord is giving us more time to get done what he is asking us to complete … Which is reaching others !

“The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.”

‭‭2 Peter‬ ‭3:9‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Jesus said…

But overhearing what they said, Jesus said to the ruler of the synagogue,
Do not fear, only believe.” Mark 5:36  (ESV)

Those are pretty amazing words from the Christ.

Words that he spoke to a father who was just told that his sick daughter had died. Words that should be able to encourage us in our daily walk today, in whatever you find yourself in.

Do not fear, only believe!

Bending

For years, my wife has had the Mary Englebriet Daily Calendar on her dresser. Each day she is greeted with a cute little picture and a bit of wisdom.   Sometimes she shares, sometimes she doesn’t.  Most of the time, I don’t pay  any attention to it.  I just watch the used days pile up as they are pulled from the calendar.

Today, however, I was admiring my readiness for work in the mirror, I glanced down and saw these words looking back at me, full of typography, color, and flowers that is Mary Englebriet.

Flexible people never get bent out of shape!

The words stuck with me and made me pause and think about my days.  I grabbed the calendar and walked directly to my keyboard.

What a great goal, and what a great way to live.  Just imagine how much of our own stress would melt away and how others would perceive you.

I love it. It reminds me my of one of my favorite chapters – Romans 12.  I love Romans 12 for the first few verses, but what follows is equally terrific. Interestingly enough, this section falls under the heading of ‘Marks of a True Christian’ in the ESV.

14 Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse them. 15Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep. 16Live in harmony with one another. Do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly. Never be wise in your own sight.17Repay no one evil for evil, but give thought to do what is honorable in the sight of all. 18If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all. Romans 12:14-18 (ESV)

Flex today, and keep your shape!
