Casting away

Sometimes I sit and think about my favorite things in life. One of them is not a thing so to speak, but a gift.  It’s the gift of being free from the need to be anxious or worried. Having the Christ to cast my burdens on creates so much freedom in my life and opens up all sorts of space in my mind. It’s a luxury that come from being a part of the body of Christ.

If you are in Christ, don’t forget this promise!! If you are not, it’s a big benefit !!
“Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.”  ‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭5:7‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Give Me

On the way to church yesterday I was listening to the bluegrass channel as I usually do on Sunday mornings. Sometimes it’s good sometimes it’s not so good. Yesterday just before a song by Ralph Stanley that was called something like ‘my papa was a mountain preacher’, this version of a classic hymn played. It’s a song that I love and I had not heard a bluegrass version of for a long time. It’s the Grascals singing Give Me Jesus. Take a listen.

Today as you rise or are alone or are with others or wherever you are, I hope that you choose Jesus, because it’s all you need.

One small step for man

Well, here it is, the first installment of  Daily Buffet!  Is it a food bar, or is it a beating – I like to think it will be both.

I hope you enjoy these musings and that you grow in your spiritual life and your walk with God through these simple observations on life as a servant of God.

24 Know ye not that they that run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? Even so run; that ye may attain.

25 And every man that striveth in the games exerciseth self-control in all things. Now they do it to receive a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible.

26 I therefore so run, as not uncertainly; so fight I, as not beating the air:

27 but I buffet my body, and bring it into bondage: lest by any means, after that I have preached to others, I myself should be rejected. (1 Corinthians 9:24-27, American Standard Version)
