Temperate

Here’s a verse I have been thinking about this week, that I think it always good to go back and visit (especially since this section of this letter produced the name of this blog).  I find the KJV very thought provoking

And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. 1 Cor 9:25

Temperate in all things.  The word seems fitting on this day when the temperature is on everyone’s mind!  Even so, sometimes I wish we spoketh with such meaning.  But as we do not, a more modern view of this goes this way

Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training.

There it is.  The idea of self discipline.  Self discipline that goes right along with the freedom we have, and why?  To gain the crown that lasts forever!  Stay focused and disciplined today as you follow the Master.

24 Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. 25 Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever. 26 Therefore I do not run like someone running aimlessly; I do not fight like a boxer beating the air. 27 No, I strike a blow to my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize.

BRRRRrrrr…..

What’s up with this extra special, extra early taste of winter?

Out of the south comes the storm, And out of the north the cold. Job 37:9

Stay warm and enjoy the change of seasons!

V is for Veterans

11/11!

A great day, and a great day to remember all those fellow citizens who take up the burden of defending this country and it’s liberties. It’s a highly admirable service and one that we should not forget. Make sure you find a way during this day to honor those who have and are still fighting for this country and the principles of freedom this grand experiment stands for!

Thanks to all those who have served!

7 Remember the days of old;
consider the generations long past. Deuteronomy 32:7 (NIV)

And then don’t forget each day, use the freedom that the country provides you to use the freedom that being in Christ provides you!

Leave Them Better

My dad always told his teams to leave the locker rooms better than they found them. I always thought that was a great thing. Seems that this principle applies well, or even better with people.
