Good Friday

On this Good Friday, here are two of my favorite verses in the whole story of the Bible.

Both of them speak of the gift of forgiveness, mercy and access that we have been giving through the events of this day!

“At that moment the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. The earth shook, the rocks split”

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭27:51‬ ‭NIV

“When he had received the drink, Jesus said, “It is finished.” With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.”

‭‭John‬ ‭19:30‬ ‭NIV‬‬

The curtain and the completion.  They go together.  They show us that we, because of the Christ, have restored access to the Creator of the World.  This is good news and this makes this Friday good!

Two-Meter Rule

I often get the pleasure of teaching teenagers about life and the Christ. After the Paris attacks, they expressed their concern and fear and anger to me. The same emotions many of us are feeling again today. We spent some time looking at this chart for the Ecomomist.com and talking about how to respond

Picture1
I told them the response could not be based in fear, or anger.  The respond had to be based in love and that there is indeed something they can do about this stuff.  There’s something you can do as well.  I called it the two-meter rule.

Picture2

I have referenced it quite often since then with that group. Sometimes I just walk around the room carrying two meter sticks to remind them of the idea.  The concept is that you should focus on the people that you come in contact with, the people within two meters of you each and every day.  If you treat them right and impact their lives, they will, in fact, impact others. Bit by bit we can overcome.Spend time today observing all the people within two meters of you, and impact them for the good.

Spend time today observing all the people within two meters of you, and impact them for the good.

Now, therefore, thus says the Lord of hosts: Consider your ways—Haggai 1:5

It’s Time to Fight Dirty

FightDirty_Twitter_COVER_04

Today is a day when we recognize one of most precious resources on the planet — Water.  We use it to live, we use it to clean, we use to play, we use it for energy and its a key part of our salvation! When it’s clean and healthy it is a really important part of each of your days!

Today on World Water Day, it’s time to appreciate water.  And a time to remember those who live in places where water is hard to come by or is contaminated.

It’s just a key part of life that the biblical references to water are pretty outstanding themselves.

So today, take a moment, as your drink the fresh water that is around you in such a plentiful supply, to be thankful for what you have.  And if you want, join in the many groups that are fighting for water.  Groups like Charity:water, who has announced their #FightDirty campaign today.  Or Healing Hands, and it’s Walk 4 Water program.

Share  this resource, this key to life, because that’s what people who have the living water do!

37On the last day of the feast, the great day, Jesus stood up and cried out, If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink. 38Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, ‘Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.‘”

And yes, we share both physical and spiritual living water!

Spring Splendor

Here’s a little thought for the first Monday of Spring:

Yes, there will be an abundance of flowers and singing and joy! The deserts will become as green as the mountains of Lebanon, as lovely as Mount Carmel or the plain of Sharon. There the LORD will display his glory, the splendor of our God. Isaiah 35:2

Romans Road

It’s Friday, lets head down the Romans Road…

Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God. Romans 5:1-2
