Lavished!

I found myself rummaging around 1 John 3 Monday night, and it’s quite glorious and a little bit frightening at the same time. But generally, it’s a bit of scripture that should give all of us hope. For starters look at this from the pre-2011 NIV

How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!

And that is what we are!

but really I just love that word in the NIV  – lavished!  God lavished his love on us so that we are indeed his children.  I can only hope that my children would think that I have lavished love on them!

(Quick aside: Maybe here’s a moment that I should consider the great example of the Father as I parent.)

Think about that for a moment! To be assured that you are a child of the Creator of the world! And that He has lavished a great love on you!  That’s freeing! Well, it may be just downright exhilarating!

But the letter doesn’t stop there.

I mean this:

2b but we know that when he appears we shall be like him,

and this:

5You know that he appeared in order to take away sins, and in him there is no sin

WOW!

If that doesn’t put a little song in your heart today, I am not sure what will! Remember what you are.

Oh and here’s a song to try, if you didn’t have one!

Silence

“The Lord is in his holy temple; let all the earth be silent before him.”‭‭Habakkuk‬ ‭2:20‬ ‭NIV‬‬
What shall I say then?  But just …..
“Be still, and know that I am God”

‭‭Psalm‬ ‭46:10‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Houston, we have a problem

Well my Ironman training as landed me in the physicians office one again this morning, and once again I am reminded just how incredible the idiosyncrasies of the body are.

And I am reminded about who created this body and what He knows about it.
“For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my motherʼs womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.”

‭‭Psalm‬ ‭139:13-14‬ ‭NIV‬‬

His works our wonderful even when they are slightly damaged.

And the best part, he made it so that it can heal when you allow it to.

Remember how awesome the vessel that carries your soul around is, treat it right and use it for his glory!!

Sent by ?

I was running late this morning so I decided to listen to the Bible via the Bible app.  I just went to Galatians and hit start.  It was interesting how much I learned in just two verses. Usually the start of the book has a bunch of salutations that are easily skipped when diving into the meat of the letter. However, I thought it was great to hear Paul say that he was not sent by a man to do what he was doing, but that he was sent by Jesus Christ.

And so are we.

Today, as you go about your day, remember that you are sent by Jesus Christ to do what he has asked you to do.

Believe me, I know some days that’s tough,

But remember who and what gives us our power!

“Paul, an apostle—sent not from men nor by a man, but by Jesus Christ and God the Father, who raised him from the dead—”

‭‭Galatians‬ ‭1:1‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Two Random Thoughts

I have two quick random thoughts in my brain today.  I think you will enjoy both.  Maybe later this week, I will elaborate on each!

My friend Randy mentioned this to me over the weekend

“I tell you, her sins–and they are many–have been forgiven, so she has shown me much love. But a person who is forgiven little shows only little love.”  Luke 7:47 NLT

and this just seemed to be on my mind as I was getting ready this morning.

For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline. 2 Tim 1
