2-22

Funny, the date is all twos today which made me think about 2 Timothy 2:2, which one of my friends spent some time talking about at my small group meeting last night.

Check it out

and what you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses entrust to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.
2 Timothy 2:2(ESV)

Well, that sums up a lot of what we should be doing each day with the wonderful message of salvation we hold in our hands.  Keep telling the story and keep teaching others!
Keep Doubling!

Hope or …

Here’s an interesting question I read this week, asked by Clarence Stowers:

When you talk, do you create hope or hype?

That’s something to think about.

Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.  Ephesians 4:29

Put on then

Evidently, yesterday was Random Acts of Kindness day, which I have had much to say in the past, so much so that I think I have written this sentence before:

And, as you know, I write about acts of kindness quite often.  –me in the post Look To Others

Well, sure I have because it’s an important part of our lives as followers of the Christ.

So, since yesterday was Random Acts of Kindness day, wouldn’t it be more random if you participated today instead?

Remember, however, I think this is more than just being nice to another person in a superficial way.  Our kindness should be motivated by a true realization that that every single person you are eyeball to eyeball with is make is the image of your creator!

Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience,13bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. 14And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. Colossians 3:12-14 ESV

Learn To Do

Titus 3 is just a nice chapter.  Let’s do this:

And let our people learn to devote themselves to good works, so as to help cases of urgent need, and not be unfruitful. Titus 3:14 ESV

The Almond Tree Blossoms

Oh, nuts, it’s National Almond Day and I have no idea what to do with that.

But alas, I do, and it’s found in this exchange in Jeremiah.

11And the word of the Lord came to me, saying, “Jeremiah, what do you see?” And I said, “I see an almond branch.” 12Then the Lord said to me, “You have seen well, for I am watching over my word to perform it.”

The almond branch is one of the first trees to awakening from the long winter’s sleep. It’s akin to the forsythia in our parts of the world.  When you see those leaves peaking out you know that spring is here and the end of the dark and dead of winter is near.  An awakening is upon us.  It’s the same with the almond, the watcher.  It waits and watches for the coming of the new season.  Looking for the opportunity to announce it for all to see.  Thus, the comparison to the Lord, as he is watching and ready to execute.  Waiting to fulfil his word.  In this case, it is in reference to the visions of Jeremiah, but I feel that we can extrapolate the nature of the Creator and his diligence to his other promises.

So consider the almond today, and make sure you are watching and waiting for opportunities to spread the message today.
