The mind of the commuter

I noticed this morning on my commute how everyone wants to be in front. Drivers do all sorts of things with their vehicles to position themselves in front of others drivers, sometimes risky their life for a few second advantage. Which most of the time just means they get to the traffic light sooner and get to idle longer !

By the way, unfortunately, I count myself in this rat race. It’s just a tell take symptom of how we all want to have things our way.

Would it not be better if we decided to yield our will? What would happen if instead of pushing out will around we made our mantra ‘your will, your way’?

Hm, we have a pretty good example of that from the one we profess to follow.

He withdrew about a stone’s throw beyond them, knelt down and prayed, “Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done.” An angel from heaven appeared to him and strengthened him. And being in anguish, he prayed more earnestly, and his sweat was like drops of blood falling to the ground. (Luke 22:41-44 NIV)

Give this one some time and thought today and start yielding to the will of the Father.

It will make your commute less stressful as well!

Keep On

For today I will steal a few words of encouragement from Paul. These words to Timothy were written to encourage him to stay strong . I think we can derive similar encouragement.

But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it, and how from infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. (2 Timothy 3:14-17 NIV)

Happy Hallows Day

The spooky night is over, and it’s All Hallow’s Day.  A day to celebrate saints.  And since all followers of the Christ get to live in his grace, it seems it is a day to remember all of those who follow the Christ, and to acknowledge the grace and the promises it holds!

11 In him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will, 12 in order that we, who were the first to put our hope in Christ, might be for the praise of his glory. 13 And you also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, 14 who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession—to the praise of his glory. Ephesians 1:11-23 (NIV)
