More on risks

My schedule is dictating a small post today even though my brain is full of interesting concepts.

So here is just a follow up thought to yesterday’s thought on taking risks with people.

Be merciful to those who doubt; save others by snatching them from the fire; to others show mercy, mixed with fear—hating even the clothing stained by corrupted flesh. (Jude 1:22, 23 NIV)

On Taking a Risk on People

I saw this post Tuesday night about taking a chance on people, and I thought it was a really good thing to share with all of you.  In the post, Ron Edmondson, the author, encourages us to take a chance, or a risk on people, just like Jesus did when he was here.

I think this is a great admonishing for you to consider today, maybe because I spend a lot of time thinking about the quote from Andy Stanley that I shared with y’all back in November ( I can’t believe it was that long ago!)  Remember that quote about using your influence to make others around you better?

It’s a very similar concept.  Reach out.  Work with others.  Take a risk to make them better.

And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, Hebrews 10:24 ESV

Blessings

A few days ago, I stumbled upon on old post that I wrote about blessings.  Well really the post just shared a video that brought the idea of blessings home.  You should go back and watch it again. ( or here’s the link to the video itself).

Anyway, re-watching that video has made me take account of all the things I have to be thankful for, including, but not limited to ( and not in any particular order of thankfulness):

Water, Amy, my health, the boys, having a house, having stuff in my house, having tons of clothes to wear, friends( lots of them, or at least they tell me they are !), followers, knowledge, transportation, freedom, fingers, the ability to type….

The list just goes on and on.

It makes it hard to be negative or to be really unhappy with things with so many good things out there. ( that is not to say, there is not always things that can be made better or improved!)  But really, take a moment today , count up those blessings and in your thankfulness – bless others.

15-17Let the peace of Christ keep you in tune with each other, in step with each other. None of this going off and doing your own thing. And cultivate thankfulness. Let the Word of Christ—the Message—have the run of the house. Give it plenty of room in your lives. Instruct and direct one another using good common sense. And sing, sing your hearts out to God! Let every detail in your lives—words, actions, whatever—be done in the name of the Master, Jesus, thanking God the Father every step of the way. Colossians 3:15-17The Message (MSG)

Set Free

It’s the best day of the year again!
Oh, and if you are looking for a reason that it is that way, maybe this verse from Hebrews will provide the necessary encouragement to keep you buffeting away today!

14How much more is done by the blood of Christ. He offered himself through the eternal Spirit as a perfect sacrifice to God. His blood will make our consciences pure from useless acts so we may serve the living God.

15For this reason Christ brings a new agreement from God to his people. Those who are called by God can now receive the blessings he has promised, blessings that will last forever. They can have those things because Christ died so that the people who lived under the first agreement could be set free from sin. Hebrews 9:14-15New Century Version (NCV)

Live free today, serve, and it will indeed be the best day of the year!

Best Day of the Year

It’s here.  The Best Day of the Year!. Even though I am so behind this morning, becoming the victim of a much different morning routine.   You may be asking why it’s the best day of the year, after all my birthday is in September and Christmas is in December.  And Ice Cream Sandwich Day is like in August or something.  Well, here is why:

“Write it on your heart that every day is the best day in the year.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson

Yep, I saw that quote Friday afternoon and thought it was perfect for the Buffet.

Make today the best day of the year!

Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoice. Philippians 4:4 American King James Version
