Looking For Some Encouragment?

I am.

I am sitting here between meetings spending a quick moment trying to find some encouragement for myself and for you.  I have been rolling the Sidewalk Prophets song You Love Me Anyway around in my head this morning, and so my mind has drifted over to Romans 8.  If that chapter does not excite a person who is a follower of Christ, I am not sure what would.  But all of you shoudl be able to find some encouragement from the end of the chapter.

 31 What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? 32 He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? 33 Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies. 34 Who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us. 35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? 36 As it is written:

   “For your sake we face death all day long;
   we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.”

 37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. (Romans 8:31-37, New International Version, ©2011)

Well, I am encouraged and ready to get back to the meetings- how about you?

Like the White Rabbit

This is like an Alice in Wonderland day for me. I feel like the White Rabbit, running around in a panic screaming “I’m Late, I’m Late for a very important date”. And all the topics and issues that are being tossed my direction are making me a little crazed like the March Hare.

“The March Hare will be much the most interesting, and perhaps as this is May it won’t be raving mad — at least not so mad as it was in March.” – (Alice from Lewis Carrol’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland )

Or maybe its the Mad Hatter, that I am becoming this week! It’s been quite a start to this month of May and quite a busy week for this blogger. But I must say that to know that there are readers out there has keep me upbeat and motivated, and always searching for ways to encourage, and for that I say thank you to all of you, the readers.

7 Your love has given me great joy and encouragement, because you, brother, have refreshed the hearts of the Lord’s people. (Philemon 1:7, New International Version, ©2011)

Keep rereshing those around you!

24 Éste es el día en que el Señor actuó;
regocijémonos y alegrémonos en él.

or this one:

24 The LORD has done it this very day;
   let us rejoice today and be glad. (Psalm 118:24, New International Version, ©2011)

May the Fourth Be With You

The power is back to my house, and I feel like I have just discovered a secret power as I have been reacquainted with all of my electric gadgets and gizmos.  Sort of fitting that that happens when it’s Star Wars Day!  That’s right  – May The Fourth Be With You!

That’s a pretty cool parting salutation, up there with ‘Shalom’, and it reminds me of the way Paul ended lots of his letters to the first century churches.

23 The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Amen. (Philippians 4:23, New International Version, ©2011)

18 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit, brothers and sisters. Amen. (Galatians 6:18, New International Version, ©2011)

14 May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all. (2 Corinthians 13:14, New International Version, ©2011)

So, today, remember the story of the Jedi’s and where their power come from – and have fun with your friends bestowing that salutation on them. But also, be thankful for the electric power that you enjoy in your home, and spend a moment considering how the grace of Christ and the love of God will power you if you allow it to be with your spirit!
