Cyber Monday!

Wind and Rain in the Fall
Rain!!!

Rainy days and Mondays always get me down….

But not on Cyber Monday.  What a great day, a day when its apparently OK to shop at work!  “Hey, I am just helping out the economy!”  So good luck today finding that deal with free shipping online!!

Also today is Lori’s Birthday, so, buy something for her!

Did you notice Timbow’s sun glare stickers ( I wonder what those are really called) on Saturday night. What a great verse he had on there.  One I think that we should all think about often.  Actually its another one of my favorites and I think its a great motivator.

(What is odd is the commentator on TV only read verse 1 when he talked about it, verse 2 makes it worth it!)

Let us scorn the shame and serve whole heartily!  I think we all can learn something besides football from Tim!

1Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. 2Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Hebrews 12:1-2 NIV

Black Friday Deals

Its Black Friday, and I am up writing emails, not hitting the stores for the deals!  There is something about waiting in line outside of a store in the middle of the night, in the cold weather, waiting to go in  to shop that’s appealing, however, some of the deals out there are pretty impressive.  Of course tweets like this from WRCB show some of the madness of this day:

WRCB
NEWSROOM: Just learned Starbucks on Hamilton Place opened at 2:30 on this Black Friday morning.

Anyway, I hope no matter what shopping events you get into today, that you remember that you are of Christ, and to continue bath this Thanksgiving weekend in praise for the One who provided it all.

Psalm 63:1-8 (New International Version)

1 O God, you are my God,
earnestly I seek you;
my soul thirsts for you,
my body longs for you,
in a dry and weary land
where there is no water.

2 I have seen you in the sanctuary
and beheld your power and your glory.

3 Because your love is better than life,
my lips will glorify you.

4 I will praise you as long as I live,
and in your name I will lift up my hands.

5 My soul will be satisfied as with the richest of foods;
with singing lips my mouth will praise you.

6 On my bed I remember you;
I think of you through the watches of the night.

7 Because you are my help,
I sing in the shadow of your wings.

8 My soul clings to you;
your right hand upholds me.

Happy Thanksgiving

Its Thanksgiving.  I hope you take some time today in between walks, runs, turkey, the Lions, turkey, family, turkey, movies, turkey and naps to consider the blessings you have in this wonderful world that God has given us.   And most importantly, remember the free gift of salvation you have been given!

My chains are gone
I’ve been set free
My God, my Savior has ransomed me
And like a flood His mercy reigns
Unending love, Amazing grace (Chris Tomlin Amazing Grace)

Our chains are gone!  That’s something to be thankful for.  Live free, and enjoy the day, enjoying the harvest you have been blessed with!

22-25 “Do you have any idea how powerful God is?
Have you ever heard of a teacher like him?
Has anyone ever had to tell him what to do,
or correct him, saying, ‘You did that all wrong!’?
Remember, then, to praise his workmanship,
which is so often celebrated in song.
Everybody sees it;
nobody is too far away to see it.  26 “Take a long, hard look. See how great he is—infinite,
greater than anything you could ever imagine or figure out! (Job 36:22-26, The Message)

Happy Thanksgiving!

On your feet! Bless God, your God, for ever and ever!

Sometimes kids say the funniest things.  While on a field trip with the 4th Grade this week, one of the boys said he was feeling sick.  I ask him if he was sick of the games, or sick sick.  His reply was classic:

The last time I felt this way it was bad. Pants were full, stomach empty, undigested food everywhere.

With that I counted my blessings  and moved along.

So anyway, as you move closer to Thanksgiving, lets be thankful for empty pants, full stomachs and that wonderful blessing that food is everywhere!!!  And praise like these man of faith from our history:

4-5 A group of Levites—Jeshua, Bani, Kadmiel, Shebaniah, Bunni, Sherebiah, Bani, and Kenani—stood on the platform and cried out to God, their God, in a loud voice. The Levites Jeshua, Kadmiel, Bani, Hashabneiah, Sherebiah, Hodiah, Shebaniah, and Pethahiah said, “On your feet! Bless God, your God, for ever and ever!

5-6 Blessed be your glorious name,
exalted above all blessing and praise! You’re the one,
God, you alone; You made the heavens,
the heavens of heavens, and all angels; The earth and everything on it,
the seas and everything in them; You keep them all alive;
heaven’s angels worship you! (Nehemiah 9:5-6, The Message)

One small step for man

Well, here it is, the first installment of  Daily Buffet!  Is it a food bar, or is it a beating – I like to think it will be both.

I hope you enjoy these musings and that you grow in your spiritual life and your walk with God through these simple observations on life as a servant of God.

 24 Know ye not that they that run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? Even so run; that ye may attain.

 25 And every man that striveth in the games exerciseth self-control in all things. Now they do it to receive a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible.

 26 I therefore so run, as not uncertainly; so fight I, as not beating the air:

 27 but I buffet my body, and bring it into bondage: lest by any means, after that I have preached to others, I myself should be rejected. (1 Corinthians 9:24-27, American Standard Version)
