Not Slack

Time has been merciful and I am able to get another post in today!  As I took the garbage to the street this morning, I monitored carefully for Zombies or Aliens! 🙂 Seeing none, I sprinted to the street and back, just in case!

We all know that one day will be the end, if not for everyone, one day will be our last individually.  It’s something that we all know is out there, and will sneak up on us like a thief in the night

For you know quite well that the day of the Lord’s return will come unexpectedly, like a thief in the night.1 Thessalonians 5:2New Living Translation (©2007)

We cannot worry about it, or be too anxious, however we should look forward to the day, like a child looks toward Christmas, or maybe even like the way so many were watching and waiting for his birth here on Earth.  And while he tarries, we must take advantage of everyday that we are graciously given, and use it as another opportunity to do good and be the light!

34 “Be careful, or your hearts will be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness and the anxieties of life, and that day will close on you suddenly like a trap. 35 For it will come on all those who live on the face of the whole earth. 36 Be always on the watch, and pray   Luke 21

The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.  2 Peter 3:9 New International Version (NIV)

Enjoy today, it still might be the last! 🙂

Happy Halloween

It’s Halloween so it’s seems appropriate to write something about mummies, the undead and demons.   And although I am tempted to write something about The Walking Dead, which I must say I started watching this week so I could understand what it was about, I probably should leave that for another time.

So how about some mummies,

14 So he told them plainly, “Lazarus is dead

40 Jesus responded, “Didn’t I tell you that you would see God’s glory if you believe?” 41 So they rolled the stone aside. Then Jesus looked up to heaven and said, “Father, thank you for hearing me. 42 You always hear me, but I said it out loud for the sake of all these people standing here, so that they will believe you sent me.” 43 Then Jesus shouted, “Lazarus, come out!” 44 And the dead man came out, his hands and feet bound in graveclothes, his face wrapped in a headcloth. Jesus told them, “Unwrap him and let him go!”  Luke 11 (NLT)

the undead,

50 Then Jesus shouted out again, and he released his spirit. 51 At that moment the curtain in the sanctuary of the Temple was torn in two, from top to bottom. The earth shook, rocks split apart, 52 and tombs opened. The bodies of many godly men and women who had died were raised from the dead. Matthew 27 (NLT)

and demons.

19 You say you have faith, for you believe that there is one God. Good for you! Even the demons believe this, and they tremble in terror James 2:19 New Living Translation (NLT)

Wow, it’s pretty amazing that we follow a God that is in complete control of all of those things that we fear and use to symbolize the darkness.  That’s actually more than amazing, it’s just plain awesome!

Enjoy the fun of Halloween, but remember the reality of the darkness, and the power that God and his Son have over that darkness – and maybe pick a side!
