IP Six Day

I am such a geek.  Today is World IPv6 Day, and that is so exciting!  No really, that is exciting.  For, a geek this change in addressing opens up the internet for more and more stuff.  That’s a big deal in a connected world – I mean really having over 4 billion times more space is a great thing.

I was trying to think of some clever way to relate this to anything in the world, and I think I am failing this morning.  So, I guess, that fact that it’s IPv6 day is, well, a who cares moment.

But the fact that this day was made by the creator of the world, there is still life in the day!

So, change your IP addresses, and enjoy the day!

Hip to Be Square

Its Geek Pride Day!  Also know as Towel Day – a reference to “Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy”.  So the Daily Buffet will wear it’s Geekyness with Pride Today.  I think I will go march in a parade with all of my technology.

Happy Ada Lovelace Day

Its Ada Lovelace Day!!!  The day that girl geeks treasure!

Who, many of you ask, is Ada Lovelace?  Well, Ada Lovelace is the world’s first computer programmer.  Yes, that’s right.  She wrote software for Mr Charles Babbage’s analytical engine way back in the 1840’s!  That’s right again – the 1840’s.  It was really even more then that, she really developed software development!  Talk about bootstrapping!  Learn more about this incredible piece of geekistry here or here.

So all geeks of the world, I being one of them, raise their handheld devices today in honor of Lady Lovelace!

Also, there is a group called findingAda.com, that is rallying around this day to recognize women in science and technology.  So, I thought I could give a quick shout out, in honor of Lady Lovelace, to several of the great women who I develop software with everyday including a fellow daily buffeter – Lisa Ignaszak!  Thanks Lisa for all the great work that you do!  I will raise my sweet tea up to you today!  (Make sure baby-j takes you out to lunch! )

Hey Guys – need some Valentine Cards that will definitely keep the romance in the air.  Check these out.  I used them – the work great!

I remember making Valentine boxes. Well, I guess I remember just decorating a bag.  Not anymore, my oldest made a pirate ship one year for Valentine’s Day and this is what my youngest is taking today.  Complex:
