Sounds, Winds and Trees

Last night I was awoken by the sounds of the wind ripping around the corner of my home and banging on the screen door outside my sleeping chamber.  As I opened my eyes I could see those darn view stealing trees bending and swaying.  So, since this seems to be my time to observe storms I laid there and monitor their progress for some time, hoping they yield to the wind and return to me the vistas which lie so pleasantly beyond their stance.   That was not be, as those guys are firmly root, and were established well by their gardener many years ago, and they stand as a reminder and an example for my spirit to follow.

16 I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, 17 so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, 18 may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, 19 and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.  Ephesians 3:16-19 (NIV)

So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness. Colossians 2:6-7(NIV)

Be Filled

This is the first morning that I can remember when I physically have not felt like writing. Lot’s of times I have problems coming up with good ideas, but today, the thoughts in my head are competing for space with junk in my sinus cavities and my head feels like it’s not exactly on my shoulders correctly.

That will go away shortly, but after today’s deadline I am sure, so let’s continue the thankful theme and draw a conclusion to last Tuesday’s post.

“Let the message about Christ, in all its richness, fill your lives. Teach and counsel each other with all the wisdom he gives. Sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs to God with thankful hearts.” Colossians 3:16 NLT

 

Be filled with the Christ, and let it come out as thankfulness and joy, thinks that will make others better!

Jump In

Well Summer is in full swing.  Hopefully you have able to fun some time by the water to stay cool and relaxed.  And when you get there, don’t just sit on the edge – jump in!  Go all the way!  Get wet.

Do it to remind you about how you should live life.  Not sitting on the edge, not with just a toe in poking in, but all the way in, covered with it, immersed and surrounded!

Lets live that way today!

Constantly Challenging Ourselves

I am not sure even where I found this now, but this is really really true.

A healthy product company is, confusingly, one at odds with itself. There is a healthy part which is attempting to normalize and to create predictability, and there needs to be another part that is tasked with building something new that is going to disrupt and eventually destroy that normality.
But this also should be true in our individual minds and bodies as well.  Too often we let the normalizing part take the lead and then we are in what is so lovingly call a rut.
Let us be at odds with ourselves and constantly challenge the predictable part with things that are better.

Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.

Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry. Because of these, the wrath of God is coming. You used to walk in these ways, in the life you once lived. But now you must also rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips. Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices 10 and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator. 11 Here there is no Gentile or Jew, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave or free, but Christ is all, and is in all.

Blessings

A few days ago, I stumbled upon on old post that I wrote about blessings.  Well really the post just shared a video that brought the idea of blessings home.  You should go back and watch it again. ( or here’s the link to the video itself).

Anyway, re-watching that video has made me take account of all the things I have to be thankful for, including, but not limited to ( and not in any particular order of thankfulness):

Water, Amy, my health, the boys, having a house, having stuff in my house, having tons of clothes to wear, friends( lots of them, or at least they tell me they are !), followers, knowledge, transportation, freedom, fingers, the ability to type….

The list just goes on and on.

It makes it hard to be negative or to be really unhappy with things with so many good things out there. ( that is not to say, there is not always things that can be made better or improved!)  But really, take a moment today , count up those blessings and in your thankfulness – bless others.

 

 15-17Let the peace of Christ keep you in tune with each other, in step with each other. None of this going off and doing your own thing. And cultivate thankfulness. Let the Word of Christ—the Message—have the run of the house. Give it plenty of room in your lives. Instruct and direct one another using good common sense. And sing, sing your hearts out to God!
