unsettled

I have like 5 draft posts sitting around waiting for my mind to settle and reach some form of conclusion.  In the meantime y’all get a whole lot of silence, which I do apologize for.
I have had a lot of change and a lot of things taking a lot of my time over the last few months, and frankly, my mind is unsettled!   I really think I should be back I a rhythm soon!

And set your minds and keep them set on what is above (the higher things), not on the things that are on the earth. (‭Colossians‬ ‭3‬:‭2‬ AMP)

Btw, I think using the word frankly is so funny,  that’s why I added it in above!

His Wounds

Here’s a little song for Friday.  It’s a great remake of a classic hymn.

I am especially drawn this this stanza.

Why should I gain from His reward?
I cannot give an answer
But this I know with all my heart
His wounds have paid my ransom

What a great reminder of our state, both damned and saved, as we head into the weekend!

How Deep is that Love!

Demolish

I wrote last week about ‘rooted’ being my word of the year, however,  right now I seem ‘focused’ on focus.  It seems however, that a large part of being rooted and strong is being focused and  demolishing all the junk going on around us!

“We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ” 2 Cor 10:5

So today,  demolish the junk in the way that keeps your thoughts and actions focused on the task at hand — obedience to the Christ!

National Day of Prayer

What a fascinating week, Star Wars, Sombreros and now Prayer!  May is off to an awesome start.  Spend a little bit of time talking with the Creator lifting up our nation, especially with all the stuff going on in our land!

16 Rejoice always, 17 pray without ceasing, 18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.  1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 (ESV)

Training Us

I have been on a little bit of a discipline kick lately.  Not the scolding my kids kind of discipline, but the keep things focused and orderly kind of discipline.  I have noticed that I have been using this word and thought at work, in my training, with my small group and around the house.  This morning, that led me to these words in Titus where we are reminded that the grace of God is  a huge motivator/trainer to living a disciplined life.  Take a look:

For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people, training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age, waiting for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purify for himself a people for his own possession who are zealous for good works. Titus 2:11-14 ESV
