Watching Over you

Have you seen this clip of United States gymnast Aly Raisman’s parents in the stands during Aly’s uneven balance bar routine?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6WQde7WXCKk

I wonder if this is how God watches over us.  I like to think it is.

I lift up my eyes to the mountains—
where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord,
the Maker of heaven and earth.

He will not let your foot slip—
he who watches over you will not slumber;
indeed, he who watches over Israel
will neither slumber nor sleep.

The Lord watches over you
the Lord is your shade at your right hand;
the sun will not harm you by day,
nor the moon by night.

The Lord will keep you from all harm —
he will watch over your life;
8 the Lord will watch over your coming and going
    both now and forevermore.  Psalm 121 New International Version (NIV)

Missed A Post!

I can’t believe I didn’t post on Friday!

That’s the first post that I missed for, well… years.  I think that is actually the first weekday that the DB has not been published.

Very sorry for that, my morning schedule was greatly changed up at camp, and I completely forgot until late in the afternoon.

Oh well, just like in life, sometimes we make mistakes, and when we do, we pick up the pieces and just keep on going.

Therefore, since through God’s mercy we have this ministry, we do not lose heart.

But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us. We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. 10 We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body. 11 For we who are alive are always being given over to death for Jesus’ sake, so that his life may also be revealed in our mortal body. 12 So then, death is at work in us, but life is at work in you. 2 Corinthians 4 New International Version (NIV)

Two Core Four

Hey all, tonight I get to speak to some young kids about my favorite verse – the buffet your body verse! But I also have to talk about Keeping your head in the game, and not choking as a competitor. For instance, check out this little three minute video :

Yeah, that’s was a bad choke. But remember, he came back and won Gold the next time around!

And that reminds me of the other verse I will focus on tonight and I though you may want to think about today from 2 Cor 4. You should go read the whole chapter.

So we do not give up. Our physical body is becoming older and weaker, but our spirit inside us is made new every day. We have small troubles for a while now, but they are helping us gain an eternal glory that is much greater than the troubles. We set our eyes not on what we see but on what we cannot see. What we see will last only a short time, but what we cannot see will last forever. (2 Corinthians 4:16-18 NCV)

Keep your head in the game and do not lose heart!

The Song in My Head

I have had only one thought circling around in my brain this morning, so I guess I am to share that.  It comes from Psalms 46

10 He says, “Be still, and know that I am God;

    I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth.”Psalm 46:10New International Version (NIV)

And it makes a lovely song to sing as well.

Generous and Just

Just a simple verse to think about today:

“Good will come to those who are generous and lend freely, who conduct their affairs with justice.” Psalm 112:5 NIV

Do you welcome opportunities that let you be generous and just?

Oh, by the way, I actually found the entire Psalm provided good motivation this morning.
